No sound
One app or the Mac is silent.
Only one app
Restart the app’s audio path.
When other apps play normally, the problem is usually inside the silent app or its assigned output.
- Play something in the app, then check its own mute and volume controls.
- In Sound settings—or SOUND if you use it—return that app to the System output and try again.
- Quit and reopen the affected app after changing its output.
Every app
Check the Mac’s system output first.
If every app is silent, start with the shared output rather than changing individual apps.
- Open Control Centre → Sound and make sure the Mac is not muted.
- Select the intended connected speaker or headphones and raise its output level.
- Disconnect and reconnect the device, then test with a second app.
