Privacy policy

This Privacy Policy explains how CPL OF MNGS, the tools label by Couple of Mangos, based in Portugal (“we”, “us”), processes personal data when you visit cplofmngs.com and when you use the SOUND or Mozart applications. We are the data controller for the processing described here, within the meaning of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”).

Scope: SOUND and Mozart

This policy covers cplofmngs.com and the macOS applications SOUND and Mozart. A reference below to an app or to SOUND describes the relevant product and does not exclude Mozart. SOUND-specific audio-processing details apply only to SOUND.

Optional SOUND support payments and Mozart web purchases are handled by Stripe. Mozart purchases in the Mac App Store are handled by Apple. The payment provider receives the payment and contact details you enter and processes them under its own privacy policy. We receive transaction and entitlement details, not your full card number.

When you separately subscribe to Mac Audio Notes, we use your email address to send a confirmation link and add you only after you confirm. The list contains occasional Mac-audio guidance and meaningful SOUND updates. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw consent at any time through the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us.

The short version

• The SOUND app processes your audio locally on your Mac and never records, stores, or transmits it. The app has no account system and sends us no analytics about what you listen to.
• Mozart uses an account and stores the projects you choose to save or sync. It sends your composition request and relevant musical context to our AI provider so it can provide the requested composition service.
• On this website, we ask for your email address only when you choose an email-based feature, such as sending the SOUND download to your Mac, joining a waitlist, or subscribing to Mac Audio Notes.
• We do not sell personal data. Ever.

1. Data we collect and why

a) Email address (requested emails and Mac Audio Notes)

When you ask us to send the SOUND download to your Mac or notify you about a waitlist, we use your email address for that request. When you separately subscribe to Mac Audio Notes, we send a confirmation link and add you only after you confirm. Mac Audio Notes contains occasional Mac-audio guidance and meaningful SOUND updates. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by writing to us; withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

b) Correspondence

If you email us at contact@cplofmngs.com, we process your email address and message content to respond to you. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in handling enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

c) Technical logs

Our hosting infrastructure may process IP addresses and request metadata in short-lived server logs for security and reliability (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

d) Website analytics

We use consent-based aggregate analytics to understand aggregate traffic (such as page views and referrers). It runs only after you opt in and does not track you across other websites or build an advertising profile. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time. We do not use advertising trackers.

e) The SOUND app

SOUND processes system audio in real time, entirely on your device, to apply the equalizer and routing you configure. This audio never reaches our servers. Your settings and presets are stored locally on your Mac; if you use preset syncing, presets are synced between your own devices through your personal iCloud account under Apple’s terms; we have no access to them.

f) The Mozart app

Mozart requires an account. We process the email address you use to sign in and, if you provide one, your display name. If you use Google sign-in, Google gives us your verified email address and a stable account identifier; we do not receive your Google password. The legal basis is performance of our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Mozart stores the projects and autosaves you choose to save or sync. These may include project names, MIDI clips, session settings, composition prompts, saved conversation history, and audio samples you explicitly import. Mozart sends a composition request and the relevant musical session context to our AI service provider so it can direct the composition. The resulting notes are generated by Mozart’s deterministic composition engine. This processing is necessary to provide the service you request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

The Mac App Store version uses Apple’s in-app purchase system. Apple processes the payment. We receive and store the product, transaction, subscription, and entitlement identifiers needed to unlock Mozart AI, handle renewals and refunds, and restore access. We do not receive your full payment-card number. Purchases made on the web are processed by Stripe.

Mozart records a daily count of AI composition requests to enforce the service quota. The app contains no advertising or analytics SDK. If you choose to send an error report, it can contain the error message and stack, your description, the app version, page URL, user agent, and—when you are signed in—your Mozart account ID and email address. Microphone audio used by optional live input is mixed locally and is not uploaded unless you explicitly import an audio file into a synced project.

2. Processors and recipients

We share personal data only with service providers who process it on our instructions:

• Vercel Inc.; website hosting.
• Fly.io, Inc.; hosting Mozart’s API and synced project data.
• Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.); delivery of download links, contact-form emails, and transactional purchase emails.
• Google LLC; optional Google account sign-in.
• Apple Inc.; Mac App Store distribution, in-app purchases, renewals, refunds, and transaction verification.
• Stripe, Inc.; web purchases and subscription management.
• DeepSeek; processing Mozart AI composition requests and relevant musical session context.

These providers are located in the United States. Transfers outside the EU/EEA are protected by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising.

3. Retention

• Email addresses on the SOUND list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
• Correspondence: as long as needed to handle the enquiry.
• Mozart account records: until you delete the account or as required to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
• Mozart projects, autosaves, MIDI parts, and imported samples: until you delete them or delete the account, subject to operational backups.
• Purchase and consent records: for the period required by tax, accounting, consumer-protection, and fraud-prevention law.
• Daily Mozart usage counts: only as long as needed to operate and enforce the service quota.
• User-submitted error reports: a short operational period appropriate to diagnosis and reliability.
• Server logs: short rotation periods set by our hosting provider.

4. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact contact@cplofmngs.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Portugal this is the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).

5. Children

Our website and app are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

6. Changes

We may update this policy as the product or the law evolves. The “last updated” date above always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced on this page.
