Terms of use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of cplofmngs.com (the “Site”) and the SOUND and Mozart applications for macOS (the “Apps”), published under the CPL OF MNGS brand by Couple of Mangos, based in Portugal (“we”, “us”). By using the Site, creating a Mozart account, or installing an App you agree to these Terms.

Scope: SOUND and Mozart

These Terms cover cplofmngs.com and the macOS applications SOUND and Mozart. References to an app or to SOUND describe the relevant product and do not exclude Mozart.

SOUND remains free. Any support payment is optional, unlocks no feature or access, and is a tip for software already provided—not a charitable donation. Stripe processes the payment. Nothing here limits your mandatory consumer rights.

1. The Apps and licence

SOUND is provided free of charge. Mozart includes free local composition and session features, while Mozart AI requires a trial, subscription, lifetime purchase, or other access we grant. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Apps on Macs you own or control. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or redistribute an App except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.

SOUND processes audio locally on your device and requires a one-time macOS system permission to access system audio. Mozart’s optional live input is mixed locally. You can revoke microphone or local-network permissions in System Settings, although the related features will stop working.

2. Downloads and updates

The Apps may be distributed through the Mac App Store or as direct downloads from the Site. Direct-download versions may check for and install updates to stay current and secure; older versions may stop being supported. Mac App Store updates are delivered by Apple.

3. Mozart accounts and AI service

A Mozart account is required for Mozart AI and synced projects. Keep your credentials confidential and provide accurate account information. You are responsible for activity under your account unless you tell us it has been compromised.

When you request a composition, Mozart sends your prompt and relevant musical session context to our AI service provider. The AI selects musical parameters; Mozart’s deterministic engine generates and validates the playable notes. AI output may be incomplete or unsuitable, so you remain responsible for reviewing how you use it.

You can permanently delete your Mozart account and associated cloud data in Settings → Account → Delete Account. Local project files remain on your Mac. Deleting a Mozart account does not itself cancel a subscription billed by Apple; manage or cancel that subscription through your Apple Account first.

4. Purchases and subscriptions

In the Mac App Store version, Apple handles all purchases. Mozart Pro is available as a one-month auto-renewable subscription at $7.99/month or a one-year auto-renewable subscription at $69.99/year; both include a two-week introductory trial for eligible users. Mozart Lifetime is a $99.99 one-time purchase. The exact price shown by Apple in your storefront is the price that applies.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account. Monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can manage or cancel them in your Apple Account subscription settings. Canceling stops future renewal but does not ordinarily refund the current period; Apple handles App Store refunds under its policies and applicable law.

Web and direct-download purchases are processed by Stripe under the price, trial, renewal, cancellation, and refund terms displayed at checkout. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights.

5. Intellectual property

The Apps, Site, and related content, including the SOUND, Mozart, and CPL OF MNGS names, logos, and app icons, are our property or licensed to us and protected by intellectual property law. These Terms grant you no rights in them except the licence above.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Site or Apps, attempt to disrupt their operation, bypass access or usage limits, misrepresent your identity, or use them in violation of applicable law or third-party rights. You may use musical output you generate, subject to rights that others may hold in any material you provide. Do not submit content you are not authorised to use.

7. Warranties and liability

The Apps and Site are provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim warranties and will not be liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from their use. Nothing excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Portuguese or EU law, including mandatory consumer protections and liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence. EU consumers retain all mandatory consumer rights.

8. Privacy

How we handle personal data, including Mozart accounts, synced projects, AI requests, and purchase entitlements, is described in our Privacy Policy. SOUND audio and Mozart live-input audio are processed locally unless you explicitly import a file into a synced Mozart project.

9. Changes to the Apps or these Terms

We may modify or discontinue an App or the Site and may update these Terms. The “last updated” date reflects the current version; material changes will be posted here. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Portuguese law. Any dispute will be submitted to the competent courts of Portugal, without prejudice to mandatory consumer rules that let you sue or be sued in your country of residence.

If you are an EU consumer, you may also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform. In Portugal, consumer disputes may be referred to the competent alternative dispute resolution entities listed on the Portuguese Consumer Portal (consumidor.gov.pt).
